Accept Hardship

The ram butts a hedge. He cannot pull back and he cannot push through. There is no advantageous direction. Wise Words! Accept the hardship and you will open the Way. You are caught in a web of old plans and old promises and cannot cut through them immediately. Accept this hardship. Analyze your mistakes. The people are gathered at the gate, poised at the threshold. Heaven shields the birth of this group. Be resolute and part from the past. You are connected to a creative force.

上六, 羝羊觸藩, 不能退, 不能遂, 无攸利, 艱則吉.

A goat butts against a hedge. It cannot go backward, it cannot go forward. ##### Comments Nothing serves to further. If one notes the difficulty, this brings good fortune. If we venture too far we come to a deadlock, unable either to advance or to retreat and whatever we do merely serves to complicate thing further. Such obstinacy leads to insuperable difficulties. But if, realizing the situation, we compose ourselves and decide not to continue, everything will right itself in time.
