Riding the horses in full array, while weeping blood courses down. Free yourself from this entangling situation. Diminish your attachment. Strip away your old ideas. Punish those who deserve punishment, and free your youthful spirit. Take this in or the situation could do real harm. Be open and provide what is needed.

上六, 乘馬班如, 泣血漣如.

Horse and wagon part. Bloody tears flow. ##### Comments The difficulties at the beginning are too great for some persons. They get stuck and never find their way out; they fold their hands and give up the struggle. Such resignation is the saddest of all things. Therefore Confucius says of this line: "Bloody tears flow: one should not persist in this."
